Man Utd fans are angry and demand justice for their star, Gareth Southgate speaks out about Rashford being excluded from England’s Euro 2024 campaign

Despite Marcus Rashford’s strong performance for Manchester United this season, England’s manager Gareth Southgate has decided not to include him in the team that will compete in the Euro 2024 tournament.

Rashford has only scored eight goals for United this season, despite making 42 appearances for the club. In January, he was also chastised by Erik ten Hag for missing a training session because he had attended a nightclub the previous evening.

During Southgate’s tenure as England’s manager, the 26-year-old player has been an integral part of the team’s success. He has been selected for England’s World Cup squads in 2018 and 2022, as well as the European Championship squad in 2021.

On the other hand, Southgate has decided not to use the United attacker for the event that will take place this summer.

When England’s provisional squad was published on Tuesday afternoon, Southgate stated, “These are of course difficult calls, you’re talking about players who are very good players and who have been an important part of what we’ve done over a number of years.” Southgate made this statement after the announcement of England’s roster.

It’s as simple as that: I just got the impression that other players in that part of the pitch have had better seasons than Marcus has.

Southgate also admitted he was wary of having too many attacking players in his England squad.

‘I’d also have to say I think you can take too many forwards as well,’ said Southgate.

‘You can have too many options in certain areas of the pitch. Of course, with forwards you’ve got to give them loved and make them feel special.

‘If you’ve got too many that can also be complicated. There’s a lot to think about over the next couple of weeks.’

Given that Luke Shaw has not participated in a game for United since February owing to an injury, Southgate also revealed that he is in a race to be fit for the Euro 2024 tournament.

“He is up against it,” Southgate commented the other day.

Many football games have been missed by him. Due to the fact that he has been our first choice at left back, we are giving him additional chances. In addition to having conversations with him and the medical personnel, I have also maintained regular communication with Manchester United. As far as I am concerned, he is a long shot.
