The leadership of the Bavarian football team publicly criticized Alphonso Davies’ recent performances.
Davies want to leave Bayern this summer
“The current form should not be affected by issues related to personal life,” Bayern’s CEO, Max Eberl, assessed in Bild.
The Canadian defender has been a regular starter for Bayern in recent forgettable matches. When facing Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on April 10th, Davies played as Bayern’s left-back but frequently allowed Saka from Arsenal to outplay him.
Previously, in matches against Heidenheim or Dortmund, Bayern’s winger also performed poorly. CEO Max Eberl emphasized that he didn’t want to say too much about the reasons for Davies’ recent slump.
“I cannot say what is relevant or explain why he has not been performing well in recent weeks,” Bayern’s leadership added about Davies.
The Bayern leadership is said to be extremely angry with the Canadian defender’s neglect, amid the team’s disappointing season.
The future of the 2000-born player has been a controversial topic within Bayern since the beginning of the year. The German club offered Davies a contract until 2029 with a salary of around 11 to 13 million euros, along with extension clauses.
However, the left-back prefers to move to Real Madrid. Davies’ current contract with the Bavarian club will expire in the summer of 2025, which could pave the way for “Los Blancos” to sign him at a more affordable price this summer.
In fact, Real has revealed a price of 20 million euros for a player in the last year of his contract. But Bayern still wants to keep the player and believes that the offer from the Madrid capital club is too low compared to their expected price.
