At one of their final obstacles, Bayer Leverkusen missed the opportunity to be unbeaten for a complete season; yet, Granit Xhaka insists that he and his colleagues do not care about the fact that they did not succeed.
Fans of football all around the continent have been blown away by the team led by Xabi Alonso, who triumphantly wrested the Bundesliga trophy away from Bayern Munich and walked away with the championship.

Leverkusen, on the other hand, were completely outclassed by Atalanta in the Europa League final, when they were defeated by a score of 3-0. Ademola Lookman, a former Everton winger, scored a magnificent hat-trick to lead Atalanta to victory.
Leverkusen has also missed the opportunity to become the first club in the history of football to spend an entire season without being defeated in any of the competitions. This opportunity was lost as a result of the defeat.
However, according to Xhaka, that is something that Alonso’s guys could not care less about.
While speaking to RTL, he was quoted by The Independent as saying, “To tell you the truth, we are not interested in the unbeaten record.” “Right from the beginning, we were not concerned about that.
“It’s all about the game, and sadly, we failed to win a championship today. It’s a football game.
The day before yesterday, we predicted that it would be a challenging game. I would want to compliment Atalanta.
It was the first time in the 2023–24 season that Leverkusen did not have any replies for their opponents. However, the difference was that Lookman was the one who made the difference.
The first time that Lookman spotted him, he was on the receiving end of a low cross from the right side of the field and fired into the roof of the net from close range.

His second was spellbinding stuff with Lookman nutmegging former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, before unleashing a delicious curling effort to the left of Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar.
And Lookman’s hat-trick was completed on 75 minutes with a vicious left-footed strike into the top corner to give Atalanta their first trophy since 1963.
Alonso’s men have the chance to secure a double on Saturday when Bayer Leverkusen face Bundesliga 2 side FC Kaiserslauten in the DFB-Pokal final.
