[OFFICIAL] Vincent Kompany officially became the new head coach of Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has officially appointed Vincent Kompany as the new head coach on a 3-year contract after reaching an agreement with Burnley.

“Bayern Munich has appointed Vincent Kompany as head coach of the club. The Belgian strategist signed a contract until June 30, 2027 with the most successful team in Germany. Before that, the last club he led was Burnley in the Premier League”, Bayern Munich made an official announcement on the homepage about Vincent Kompany becoming the new “captain”.

Previously, after Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner said “no” and Thomas Tuchel also refused to “turn around”, the Bayern Munich leadership turned to an almost unexpected target, Kompany. The Belgian strategist previously did not appear on the list of candidates, and even just relegated Burnley to 19th place in the 2023/24 Premier League.

However, Bayern Munich’s leadership, especially board member who is in charge of searching for a coach, Max Eberl still highly appreciates Kompany’s abilities. The Gray Tigers even had to spend about 12 million euros to compensate the 38-year-old coach’s contract with Burnley.

After a long search, Bayern Munich decided to put their trust in Kompany

“I’m really excited about the challenge at Bayern Munich. Working for this club is a great honor. As a coach, I want my playing style to reflect who I am. I like to control the ball, play creatively, and always give my best effort. In the immediate future, I look forward to the prospect of working with the players and building a quality team. When everything is running smoothly, success will come,” coach Kompany shared.

After retiring as captain of Man City and one of the most successful players in Premier League history, Kompany began his coaching career in 2020 at his hometown club Anderlecht. After that, the former Belgian midfielder returned to England to lead Burnley, bringing the club to promotion with the Championship title in the 2022/23 season but then could not stay relegated in the 2023/24 season.
