Bayern Munich plans to spend money to recruit 20-year-old English football talent – Adam Wharton, who played prominently for Crystal Palace in the second half of the 2023/24 season. The Bavarian team is looking for a quality defensive midfielder, despite the possibility that Joshua Kimmich will continue to stay at Allianz Arena.
In the winter, they targeted Joao Palhinha but the deal collapsed at the last minute. Now they turn to a more potential name – Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. The 20-year-old midfielder just moved to Selhurst Park from Blackburn earlier this year for a fee of £22.5 million.
Adam Wharton immediately made a strong impression in his new shirt thanks to his poise and strong playing style.
According to sources from The Independent, Bayern Munich’s scouts analyzed Wharton’s performance in detail and gave him the highest score among the targets they kept an eye on.
Therefore, the Bundesliga giant is willing to spend 60 million pounds to bring this young talent to Allianz Arena, as a gift for new coach Vincent Kompany.
Wharton’s excellent form at Palace helped him be called up to the England team for the first time, preparing for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament.
Coach Gareth Southgate enjoyed watching Wharton play so much that he decided to add his name to the preliminary list of 33 players, while ignoring veteran Jordan Henderson.
