Sporting demands €100 million for the prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres, while Chelsea says their €85M offer is ‘not enough’

Sporting have demanded €100 million (£86 million or $109 million) to get Viktor Gyokeres, while Chelsea have offered €85 million (£73 million or $92 million).

In 24 games in all competitions, the Swedish striker has been absolutely phenomenal this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists. Several prominent European clubs have taken notice of his goal-scoring prowess, including the Premier League club.’

Gyokeres’ release clause in his contract is €100 million, and Sporting will not allow him to leave for anything less than that amount. Chelsea is prepared to give €85 million for him. The club will not give in until the English side activates a provision that would cоmpel them to part ways with the striker, according to manager Ruben Amorim, who is a major fan of the player.

“Obviously, I was informed of the news,” Amorim told reporters. A thought crossed my mind: “That’s not enough” the moment they mentioned 85. This is just 100. It doesn’t concern me.

Selling is a necessary evil for every club. Midway through the season, they have stated that they will only depart for the clause. This is something over which we have no control, so I’m trying to relax. The board’s efforts to claim that players we cannot afford to lose will only depart for the fee are based on the fact that we must consider Viktor’s impact on the team and the extensive changes that would be necessary. I haven’t discussed that with Viana yet. Obviously, there are clubs in this day and age that can pay 100, but it is beyond our control.

It’s possible that offers will come in the summer, I’m sure. At this moment, I am unsure. It’s only for the clause that we’ll have to sell right now. No one has been able to surpass 100 million. Undoubtedly, an offer has been made. I think I would be informed. It didn’t add up to me. €85 million is a nothing compared to our worth; we will not be adversely affected.

In 2023, Sporting paid only €20 million to Coventry City to acquire Gyokeres. The striker has been on fire since signing, contributing to 30 goals so far. The player’s contract with the Liga NOS club extends until 2028, thus the club is in no rush to trade him.

Gyokeres has also stated his intention to remain at Sporting and stated that he is not concerned with “any interested parties at the moment.”

Chelsea are frantically searching for a solution to their goal-scoring problems in the transfer market. With interest from Wolves, West Ham, and Fulham, they are allegedly willing to listen to offers for Armando Broja as well. It is anticipated that they will seek a successor if they are able to remove Broja from their records. But the Blues may rethink their pursuit of Gyokeres if Nicolas Jackson returns from the Africa Cup of Nations and Christopher Nkunku recovers from an ιnjury.
