Sancho ‘is ready to return to Man United from Dortmund… but only under one condition’, as the England winger ponders his future after Champions League final defeat

According to reports, Jadon Sancho is open to rejoining Manchester United, but there is one requirement.

After things at United soured and Sancho publicly complained about being kept off the team back in August, he fell out of manager Erik ten Hag’s favor. Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

Since then, Sancho has returned to form and performed well during his team’s run to the Champions League final on Saturday, when they were defeated by Real Madrid.

Sancho’s future status is still unknown, especially as Dortmund is rumored to be interested in signing him on a long-term basis.

According to The Mirror, Sancho still has a chance to play at Old Trafford, even though United might price Dortmund out of a transfer.

However, the player recognises that this will not be possible under Ten Hag and therefore his future at the club depends on whether the manager stays.

Ten Hag’s future is equally uncertain with reports emerging before the FA Cup final that he was going to be sacked regardless of the result.

United went on to beat Man City 2-1 and that victory may have bought the Dutchman more time.

Sancho signed for United from Dortmund in 2021 for a fee of £73million.

The winger has made 82 appearances for United and scored 12 goals, while he has provided six assists.

Sancho refused to apologise to Ten Hag after accusing the United boss of making him a ‘scapegoat’ for the club’s disappointing results.

Speaking in January, Ten Hag stated that United had issues ‘all the way through’ with Sancho.

Ten Hag says Sancho represents ‘high value for Manchester United’

Ten Hag told Sky Sports: ‘He’s now at Dortmund. So after he was signed, one year before [I was here], and there were issues. We have had issues all the way through, and so you can make out his stay at Manchester United so far is not a success.

‘So now he is going back to Borussia Dortmund, so I wish him the best of luck. I hope, we all hope he is doing well there, he will be successful. Again, we will see what is going to happen.’

When asked whether things might be different had the player apologised, Ten Hag added: ‘We have said that before. And I don’t want every time to return to the point. He knows what he should do and we have made that clear.’

Ten Hag stated that Sancho’s absence from the matchday squad against Arsenal in September was due to his performances in training.

Sancho subsequently issued an angry response on social media, writing: ‘I have conducted myself in training very well this week’ and ‘I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!’
