According to one NBA general manager, Lauri Markkanen, a standout for the Utah Jazz, would be the perfect addition to the Los Angeles Lakers. The 2023–24 season showed that the Purple and Gold will probably need to bring in some outside aid to go closer to the promised land.

In the 2022–23 season, Markkanen had a breakout year. His rookie year with the Jazz was excellent; he averaged 25.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, which won him All-Star consideration and the title of Most Improved Player.

Despite playing in just 55 games this season, he still managed to put up respectable numbers: 23.2 points, 8.2 boards, and 2.0 assists per game.

Moreover, if he were to join the Lakers this offseason and ultimately remain with the franchise for years to come, there would possibly be an opportunity for him to take on a star-sized role with the team in the post-LeBron James days.
