A footballer who defected from Chelsea to one of their fiercest London rivals last summer has spoken up about the circumstances surrounding his decision and the events leading up to it.

But looking back, I can see how both of these choices were the right ones for the situation. There was a sense that Havertz’s time at Chelsea was ended regardless, and Chelsea got a good price for him. Jorginho appears content at Arsenal.

I didn’t see many irate Chelsea fans; I think most of them were just happy to acquire a decent price for a player whose departure didn’t bother them too much. Perhaps it’s only my perspective, though.
