Coach Vincent Kompany wants Bayern Munich to sign the Burnley goalkeeper to replace Neuer

Coach Vincent Kompany has started a promising new challenge in his career when taking over the giant Bayern Munich. To embark on the journey of bringing the Gray Tigers back to the top, the former Man City star is preparing very carefully for the 2024 summer transfer period, in which the position of goalkeeper has also been put into focus.

Vincent Kompany’s initiative will cause Bayern Munich to compete with Liverpool and Newcastle to get the signature of Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

However, this choice of Kompany is raising questions. Bavarian Football Works news site reported alarming statistics when Trafford only kept 2 clean sheets in 28 Premier League matches last season; Trafford has been dropped for the last 10 games to make way for Arijanet Muric.

Coming to Bayern to replace Manuel Neuer and even Sven Ulreich is not an easy task, and with a goalkeeper with fewer clean sheets than Daniel Peretz, is this a wise deal.

James Trafford is 1.97m tall, which is an outstanding advantage for goalkeepers. However, if only considering height, Tom Ritzy Hülsmann, a player playing for Bayern’s youth team, is 2.05m tall and is only 20 years old.

However, it cannot be denied that Trafford is a promising young goalkeeper. Burnley’s star joined England U21 to win the European U21 title in 2023. More importantly, Trafford played the role of hero when he excellently blocked a penalty shot in injury time, helping England win narrowly.

According to sources from FootballInsider247, Liverpool sees the 21-year-old Trafford player as a replacement for Caoimhin Kelleher in the backup role for Alisson. Whether Bayern Munich will be more aggressive in this deal or not, it is known that Bayern Munich still has many positions to upgrade in this summer transfer window.
