As England ramped up their preparations for their opening game of Euro 2024, which will take place on Sunday against Serbia, both Shaw and John Stones participated in training sessions on Tuesday.

Due to the fact that Southgate has been dealing with a multitude of injury issues in the lead up to the tournament, he was lucky enough to be able to watch his whole 26-man squad exercise on Tuesday.

Stones had to leave the game with a knock midway through Friday’s friendly loss to Iceland by a score of 1-0, while Shaw continued his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury that has bothered him since the middle of February.

The United star, on the other hand, was required to wear a green bib during the training session that took place at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld in Jena. This was done in order to designate him as a player who should not be made contact with due to his fragile physical status.

Shaw is a veteran of 31 caps for his country, during which he scored three goals, including the game-winning goal in the Three Lions’ loss to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

There is currently no information regarding when the United defender will be available to play for England in the tournament.

A number of reports indicate that the left-back might play in the match against Denmark on June 20 or in the match against Slovenia, which is the final encounter of the group stage, five days later.

During the process of recovering from his injury, Shaw admits that he and the medical staff at United made some of the appropriate mistakes.

During the match against Aston Villa, Shaw stated, “I felt something against Aston Villa and came off at halftime at Villa Park.” There is a sense that it is everyone’s fault.

To a certain extent, it was my fault, and to a lesser extent, it was the responsibility of the medical staff.

“I did not train for the entire week. The results of the scan showed that there wasn’t a lot of tissue present.

I didn’t workout at all during the week, and I only started working out the day before the game. It is impossible for me to refuse the manager’s request to participate in the game. I ought not to have participated.”
