Portugal defeated the Republic of Ireland 3-0 in a friendly match yesterday night, and Bruno Fernandes, a midfielder for Manchester United, was instrumental in the victory.

At the tail end of the season, the 29-year-old was magnificent for Manchester United. He was instrumental in the FA Cup final, setting up Kobbie Mainoo for the game-winning goal.

In his international career, Fernandes has continued to make waves. Before setting up Joao Felix for the game-winning goal against Ireland, he scored twice in the win over Finland.

Not only did he help set up a goal, but he also completed 70 of 73 passes with a 93% completion rate. The Portuguese playmaker got 91 touches and set up six crucial chances.

Although Roberto Martinez’s squad has suffered defeats against Slovenia and Croatia so far this season, they will be looking to bounce back at the forthcoming European Championship.

Fernandes has been United’s rock for the last three years. Even if Portugal has more creative players, the Red Devils’ star is still the engine that drives the team forward.

With 67 caps for his nation, the £59 million-rated star has scored 22 goals and added 20 assists.In their first match of Euro 2024, Fernandes and Portugal will take against the Czech Republic on June 18. The following two matches, on June 22 and 26, respectively, will pit them against Turkey and Georgia.
