French team captain Kylian Mbappe skipped training, while Kingsley Coman fell ill ahead of Euro 2024.
The French team is one of the candidates to win Euro 2024. However, ahead of Euro 2024, coach Didier Deschamps has a headache when many French stars are sick, while captain Kylian Mbappe also stopped training to prevent injury from recurring.
(PLO)- There are many exciting and exciting encounters when the Euro 2024 group stage kicks off in the early morning of June 15.
Kylian Mbappe has missed France’s training session ahead of Euro 2024 as coach Didier Deschamps sweats away illness that has ravaged his squad. Mbappe, who recently completed a blockbuster move to Real Madrid, was absent from France’s training session in the German city of Paderborn.
The 25-year-old France captain is sidelined along with Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, who fell ill just five days before Les Blues begin their Euro 2024 group stage campaign against Austria next week.

Kylian Mbappe was injured while playing for PSG at the end of the season. Mbappe only played 15 minutes in France’s friendly match, which Canada surprisingly held 0-0 recently. Mbappe was allowed by coach Deschamps to take time off from training so he could fully recover and prevent his injury from recurring.
Explaining why the France captain did not start against Canada, as he did in the 3-0 win over Luxembourg last week, France coach Didier Deschamps said optimistically: “Kylian Mbappe took a hit in the last game on Wednesday and before training he had a significant bruise on his knee. Mbappe has been treated, today he is much better, but even if he wanted to play the whole game, there is no risk.”
Mbappe trained alone in the gym on Thursday while the rest of Deschamps’ star-studded squad, apart from Coman, continued their normal preparations in Germany. Many people in the French team were exposed to a “flu virus” that made them sick, including coach Deschamps.

Winger Ousmane Dembele has had it before, although he is feeling better now. “For me, I am much better,” Dembele revealed. “I had the flu last week and I was the first one but now I feel much better. The whole team is much better. Everyone will be fine in a few days.”
4,000 spectators watched Dembele and France train together in Paderborn, with tickets for France’s opening match selling out in minutes. Les Blues are rated by bookmakers as the second favourites to win Euro 2024, behind England. The French squad are staying at a hotel in Bad Lippspringe.
After coming close to winning Euro 2016 on home soil and then suffering a shock last-16 defeat to Switzerland at Euro 2020, France are under pressure to win the Henri Delaunay Cup at Euro 2024. The last time France won the Euros was in 2000, when Deschamps captained the French team to the title.
France will meet “dark horse” Austria in the opening match of Euro 2024 on Monday evening June 17 (2 a.m. June 18 Vietnam time) in Dusseldorf, before the expected clash with the Netherlands at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, June 22 in Leipzig. Les Blues then ends their Group D campaign against Poland on Tuesday evening, June 25 in Dortmund.
