A product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Xavi Simons completed a move to PSG in 2021 before returning to his native Netherlands in search of regular game time with PSV Eindhoven. He has been superb in the 2022/23 season, scoring 19 goals and providing eight assists, prompting PSG to trigger his £5m buy-back clause.

PSG immediately loaned Simons to RB Leipzig and the attacker continued to impress, with eight goals and 11 assists in the Bundesliga last season. Despite his good form, the Dutchman’s future at PSG is still uncertain, according to French publication L’Equipe.

Simons will return to PSG on July 1. There are three options for the 21-year-old in the summer transfer window: stay at PSG, go on loan or be sold. Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are all said to be interested in Xavi Simons.

Also according to L’Equipe, the possibility of PSG loaning the 21-year-old player is most likely, because if he sells him in the summer of 2024, most of the transfer money will go to PSV, not the French team. The striker’s current contract at Parc des Princes runs until the summer of 2027.
