Valencia and Mason Greenwood reach a personal agreement.
Manchester United is considering selling Mason Greenwood this summer because they don’t want to continue working with him following his off-field problems in 2022.
He played the entire previous season on loan at Getafe, where he had a successful stint and scored eight goals in 33 La Liga games.
Juventus is one of the teams supposedly connected to a summer deal for English attacker Greenwood, whose transfer worth is reportedly £40 million.
According to journalist Nick Semeraro, Valencia and Greenwood have unexpectedly come to an agreement on personal issues, although there is still a “distance in evaluation” with United. It’s still unknown how much Los Che gave the Red Devils. It’s reasonable to infer, though, that it would be less than the £40 million United has set aside for Greenwood’s sale.
Juventus, on the other hand, is not in talks with the player and will probably give priority to signing Jadon Sancho, another of Manchester United’s exiles.
Greenwood can still build on his Getafe experience at Valencia, a strong La Liga team even if they don’t give him the chance to play in the Champions League. It is also true that, despite his issues in England, Greenwood was well-liked in Spain, so there’s hope that, in the national league, he may become the player he once was.
Man United and Valencia may believe that settling on a transfer fee will only be a matter of time as the Premier League’s biggest clubs are eager to let go of the 22-year-old attacker permanently. It will be fascinating to watch whether Valencia, or any other team for that matter, is willing to pay the £40 million that United is demanding for Greenwood, or if they will try to take advantage of the club’s desire to get rid of him by proposing a lower transfer fee.
