In Friday’s 5-1 opening win over Scotland, the 21-year-old Musiala scored Germany’s second goal. It will be difficult for Hungary to advance after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Switzerland. On Sunday, the host nation will face Switzerland in Group A’s last encounter, while Scotland will face Hungary.

Germany defeated Hungary 2-0 in their second group match in Euro 2024, with Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and Antonio Rudiger playing key roles once again.

As a result of the heavy pressure from Hungary, Germany got off to a shaky start. Italy needed a couple of saves from Antonio Rudiger and Jonathan Tah to keep the game close, but once the nerves subsided, Germany was unstoppable. As the half progressed, Kroos took charge, completing 70 out of 72 passes—amazing stuff that the Germans have made look easy.

In the second half, Kroos continued his impressive performance from the first, exuding self-assurance despite the intense pressure, and he contributed to Germany’s second goal. His defensive performance was commendable as well, featuring a tackle, an interception, and a clearance. Despite throwing for 126 yards and a 95.2% completion percentage, he made only three attempts at big passes throughout the game.

The performance by Rudiger was really ordinary. With Tah assuming most of the defensive responsibilities, Rudiger was left with little to do after a couple of respectable interventions in the first half. However, he completed 91 passes with a 94% accuracy rate, good for second place in the game. Along with four completed long balls and five clearances and one block, he had a solid performance overall.

To round out their group stage matches on Sunday, Germany will take on Switzerland.
