When Kylian Mbappe returns to action at the UEFA European Championship in Germany, he will not be permitted to wear a three-color mask featuring the national flag of France.
The French sensation suffered a broken nose during Monday’s 1-0 victory over Austria. After becoming hurt, Mbappe left the game. He won’t have surgery, but he still needs to wear face protection when playing.
Mbappe practiced light training with his teammates on Thursday while donning a mask featuring the well-known French “tricolore.”
However, unless a specific exception is acquired, players in games are only permitted to wear single-color masks per UEFA regulations. A section of UEFA’s regulations states, “Medical equipment worn on the field of play must be a single color and free of team and manufacturer identification.”
Didier Deschamps, the France coach, expressed optimism to reporters on Thursday over Mbappe’s potential to play against the Netherlands on Friday.
“After оur initial shоck, everything is gоing fine. He will be able tо engage in sоme mоdest activity this evening, just as he was allоwed tо dо yesterday. Everything is mоving in the cоrrect way, accоrding tо Deschamps. “We’ll dо all we can tо ensure that he’ll be available tоmоrrоw.”
ESPN reports that Mbappe might have to sit out the match against the Dutch and won’t be able to play again until their last group match on June 25 against Poland.
At Euro 2024, both France and the Netherlands triumphed in their opening matches in Group D. Thus, Friday’s match outcome could be crucial in determining which clubs from the group will move on to the knockout phase.
