Sanchez is nearing the end of his career but made 33 appearances for Inter in Serie A last season, scoring four goals for Simone Inzaghi’s side. His future remains unclear, with his contract with the Italian club set to expire this summer and both parties agreeing not to extend it, meaning Sanchez will leave on a free transfer.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Chilean could return to former club Udinese, with the striker playing for the club from 2006 to 2011 before moving to Barcelona. Sanchez joined the club as a 17-year-old after starting his career with Cobreloa, marking his first move to Italy.

After loan spells with Colo-Colo and River Plater, he became a key player for Udinese and moved to Barcelona for £30m, learning under Pep Guardiola. The Chilean striker made 95 appearances for Udinese, scoring 20 goals.

After four years at Barca, he moved to the Premier League, joining Arsenal for the same fee as moving to Spain and immediately becoming a key player under Arsene Wenger. Sanchez scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for Arsenal, leaving United in 2018 in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Sanchez’s form faltered at Old Trafford, where he made just 45 appearances, scoring five goals, and eventually moved to Inter. Sanchez initially joined Inter on loan, before being bought permanently in 2020. After two years, the Chilean spent a year playing for Marseille in France, but returned to Inter on a one-year deal at the start of last season.

It is now believed that Sanchez will have to lower his demands if he wants to join a new club, with his current wages believed to be around £80,000 a week.
