In the final match of Group C of EURO 2024, despite being expected to win impressively, the England team played very poorly against Slovenia and only had a bland 0-0 draw.

Before EURO 2024 took place, England was the most valuable team in the tournament. With a value of nearly £1.3 billion, England were considered a strong candidate for the championship title.

England’s squad has many superstar-level stars such as Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Rice… England seems to be so strong that many other famous players have to stay home and watch EURO 2024 on TV, typically Jack Grealish.

But how did England perform in Group C of EURO 2024? In the first two matches, England had a hard time winning 1-0 against Serbia and barely drawing 1-1 with Denmark. The way England played made the “Three Lions” fans really worried, but they still hoped that this team would shine and flourish when facing Slovenia.

However, once again, England disappointed. Of course, with the situation in Group C after 2 matches, Slovenia had a reason to play tight defense. Slovenia’s very reasonable play made England really confused to the point of stalemate.

During the first 30 minutes of the first half, England controlled the ball up to 74%. But this was just a very “virtual” number because during that time, England did not have any truly dangerous shots on Slovenia’s goal.

Slovenia are really focused on the goal of getting 1 point. They know that a draw in this match will guarantee them a ticket to the next round regardless of the result of the match between Denmark and Serbia which is taking place at the same time.

As the match progressed, the plays created by Kane, Foden, and Bellingham in front of Slovenia’s goal only highlighted Slovenia’s excellent defense. Experienced goalkeeper Oblak played with great concentration and made no mistakes, helping Slovenia stand firm.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw and although England entered the round of 16 unbeaten, their ambitions of winning the title were clearly in serious doubt. Meanwhile, Slovenia celebrated with great joy as they had achieved their initial goal of getting out of the group stage.
