Omari Hutchinson, a 20-year-old winger, is expected to make a permanent return to Ipswich Town after the sides agreed to a £20 million deal, a club record for the Tractor Boys.
There are reportedly sell-on clauses and add-ons of £2.5 million included in the deal. Chelsea will not receive the full £20 million, though, since Arsenal will also receive an undisclosed portion as a result of their own sell-on clause from two years ago, when the player left the Gunners.
Hutchinson began his career at the Chelsea Academy at a young age and spent several years at Arsenal after leaving Charlton Athletic. He would return in 2022, although in that inaugural season, he would only play a few pinch cameos.
The Jamaican international obviously has a lot of potential, but sadly, he will not be playing at Stamford Bridge to show off his skills and maybe live up to expectations. Barring any last-minute glitches in the medical, Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna will surely continue to show him a lot of faith in the Premier League as he did in the Championship last year.
