Red has always been an essential part of the club’s identity, according to Sam Handy, adidas’ senior vice president of product and design. There have been numerous iterations of it throughout the years, and we were looking to shake things up for 24–25.
We were inspired by the shirts that Manchester United wore during their experiments with stadium floodlights from 1952 to 1957. Wearing them, some of the club’s most illustrious players showcased remarkable pioneering work in inventive matchwear design.
“The modern interpretation of the home kit this season, intended to attract attention from all angles on pitch, was heavily influenced by the color-shifting appearance of these.”
