After his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired earlier this week, Kylian Mbappe formally joined Real Madrid. The 25-year-old is now competing at Euro 2024 for France, therefore Carlo Ancelotti has not yet revealed him as the newest member of his squad. However, his introduction is expected to happen shortly after the tournament ends.
Crucial information about Mbappe’s presentation has been made public by Diario AS. No matter when France’s participation in Euro 2024 concludes, the event will take place on Tuesday, July 16th. He has to go through his medical exams first thing in the morning, and then in the evening he’ll be unveiled to the 80,000 ecstatic Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It will use the same format as the presentation ceremony for Mbappe’s football idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. For the occasion, the Bernabeu will be transformed into a catwalk, complete with live music and a spectacular fireworks display.
Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, will also be there to give Mbappe his new jersey, which will have the number nine. Following Ronaldo’s lead, the Frenchman will likely wear the number for a single season before assuming the number 10 jersey when Luka Modric retires at the conclusion of the 2024–25 season.
Chelsea FCW’s Melanie Leupolz joins Real Madrid
Melanie Leupolz’s departure from Chelsea and signing with Real Madrid is quite surprising. The 30-year-old midfielder’s contract has two years remaining; neither the amount nor any speculation about it has been revealed in the media. The news of fellow midfielder Júlia Bartel’s arrival from Barcelona, which was announced earlier today, is now illuminated by her departure.
Four years ago, Emma Hayes signed Leupolz from Bayern Munich, and he became an integral part of her squads. Despite missing time due to illness and childbirth in later seasons, she finished her career with 83 appearances, 10 goals, and 8 awards, including an annual league championship.
Joining Fran Kirby and Maren Mjelde in leaving this summer, Leupolz completes the trio of departing key players as we enter a new era under head coach Sonia Bompastor.
Real Madrid is aiming to get back on track after finishing second in Liga F to Barcelona. They brought in Filippa Angeldahl and Alba Redondo, two Spanish international strikers, earlier this week from Manchester City.
Thank you for everything, Melly. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
