Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano said Bayern has completed the purchase of Portuguese international Joao Palhinha from Fulham. On his personal page X, Romano recited his trademark “Here we go” mantra with a status line announcing Palhinha’s deal to join Bayern.
Accordingly, to get Palhinha’s services, Bayern will have to pay Fulham 50 million euros with 5 million euros in additional fees. The 28-year-old midfielder will sign a contract with the Bundesliga representative until 2028. The two sides have arranged a medical examination and then the contract will be officially signed.
Palhinha joined Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2022 for 22 million euros, quickly becoming the club’s mainstay in the midfield. Last summer, Palhinha was very close to Bayern, but the deal collapsed at the last minute because Fulham could not find a replacement.
At that time, Palhinha even flew to Germany to undergo a medical examination after receiving permission from Fulham but was still unsuccessful. Since then, Gray Tiger has been following Palhinha before returning to this mission this year.
By selling Palhinha to Bayern, Fulham will record a deal that helps them earn the second highest transfer fee in the club’s history, after selling Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al Hilal for 52.6 million euros last summer. In total, Palhinha has made 79 appearances for Fulham, contributing 8 goals and 1 assist.
Currently, Palhinha is competing with the Portuguese team at EURO 2024. At dawn on July 6, Portugal will battle France in the quarterfinals.
