Real Madrid formally confirmed the shirt number the Frenchman would wear at the team following the announcement of Kylian Mbappe’s presenting date.
From compatriot Karim Benzema, the 25-year-old free-transfer signing has announced to be the new No. 9 for the club.
Indeed, the No. 9 shirt was left empty at Real Madrid after Benzema left in 2023; Mbappe will now wear it in the 2024/25 season.
The Frenchman was focused on the No. 10 shirt, but it was not accessible for him since Luka Modric was still playing for the team. He will thus play with the No. 9 on his back in the next campaign.
Changes for many different playersReal Madrid also acknowledged that several of its players had jersey numbers altered for the next season.
First of all, Federico Valverde will wear the No. 8 shirt that Toni Kroos left behind empty.
Arda Guler, who wore No. 24 last season, will now grab the No. 15 shirt Valverde will be leaving empty.
Having replaced departed club captain Nacho Fernandez, Eduardo Camavinga also receives a new number for Real Madrid.
Back from his loan, Camavinga’s compatriot Aurelien Tchouameni also gets a new number with the midfielder shifting to No. 14 from No. 18. Jesus Vallejo will now wear this number.
