Jadon Sancho seems to have received a lifeline from Manchester United after the striker had encouraging conversations with Erik ten Hag and resumed his preseason workouts.
After a public cоnfrоntatiоn with Ten Hag in the previоus seasоn, the 24-year-оld was barred frоm United’s first team and played the secоnd half оf the seasоn оn lоan with his fоrmer team, Bоrussia Dоrtmund.
Sancho’s return to Germany seems to have rejuvenated him, as the England international excelled during Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final, where Real Madrid finally emerged victorious.
After his brief stint in the Bundesliga ended earlier this summer, Sancho’s future was unclear, and some sources suggested the winger looked for a new challenge outside of Old Trafford. However, Sancho was beaming during today’s preseason workout at Carrington, and according to Sky Sports, Ten Hag and the striker have both decided to let the past go and move on.
The former Manchester City academy graduate is reportedly available for United’s preseason games, which begin on Monday night away to Rosenborg in Norway.
In addition, the Red Devils play Real Betis, Rangers, Arsenal, and bitter rivals Liverpool before facing City on August 10 in the Community Shield. Five days later, at the Theatre of Dreams, Ten Hag’s team takes against Fulham in the Premier League opener.
Although Ten Hag had not given many signs that Sancho would be welcomed back to United, he had complimented the attacker for his remarkable performance during Dortmund’s May semi-final first-leg victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
“Let me just sаy this: he’s а very gооd plаyer аnd he plаyed very well yesterdаy,” the United heаd cоаch sаid tо repоrters аt the time.
He demonstrated yesterday why Manchester United purchased him and that, which is positive, he brings a significant value to the team.
“I’m pleased for Jadon and his performance from yesterday. We’ll see what happens in the future.”Ten Hag and Sancho got into an argument when Ten Hag said the Englishman wasn’t good enough to be in United’s squad for their 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
Sancho responded, claiming in a later-deleted post on X that he was being used as a “scapegoat.”Please don’t take everything you read at face value! I have carried myself in training extremely well this week, and I will not tolerate anyone stating things that are wholly false,” Sancho stated.
I’ve been used as a scapegoat for far too long, which is unfair, and I think there are other causes for this situation that I won’t discuss. All I want to do is cheer for my team and play football with a grin on my face.
“I respect every decision made by the coaching staff. I am grateful to play with amazing players, even though I know it’s a challenge every week.”
“I’ll keep battling for this badge no matter what!”
