The Spain international has entered the final year of his contract with Sociedad and is yet to sign an extension with the Basque club. Accordingly, Arsenal can complete this deal at an affordable price.

Romano shared: “Mikel Merino is definitely on Barcelona’s shopping list. The Spanish midfielder is highly appreciated by Barca’s board of directors.

Arsenal have also been monitoring Merino, as he is considered a good opportunity with a year left on his contract, while Mikel Arteta also regularly watches Real Sociedad. Let’s see what happens, it’s still early as all options are open.”

There is information that Real Sociedad will be willing to let Merino leave for a fee of about 21 million pounds.
