Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal in the 86th minute of the European Championship sealed a 2-1 victory for Spain, causing the Three Lions to suffer another heartbreaking final defeat.

All of the England players appeared upset at the final whistle, but the Real Madrid midfielder stood out in particular. He appeared to be in a very contemplative mood as he sat on the England bench, staring towards the pitch. He walked off the pitch and kicked a drinks cooler in rage.

By the time of the medal presentation, Bellingham had composed himself, but it was obvious that he was unhappy about having to pass the Euro 2024 trophy. He removed his medal quickly, as was the case for many players on the losing team in the finals.

Bellingham called the loss ‘cruel’ and ‘heartbreaking’ following the game.

“It is truly cruel to lose in that manner,” he said to reporters. Even though we didn’t play our best, there were still some excellent moments and we felt like we were regaining control of the game. However, we were rather taken aback by the late goal. It’s devastating.

“I think they were the best team in the tournament,” Southgate, his manager, stated following the match. Despite our poor ballkeeping, we managed to stay in it till the very end. I am so proud of the players; they have been amazing, and I am heartbroken for everyone.

We were moving a little quicker. There was a good opportunity to equalize late on, but I don’t think we did nearly enough.
