On the afternoon of July 16, Real Madrid held a ceremony to introduce Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu, an event reminiscent of the case of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2009.
Kylian Mbappe had his Real Madrid debut on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 16. According to AS and Marca newspapers, the event attracted about 75,000 spectators to the Bernabeu stadium.
After participating in EURO 2024, a tournament in which France and himself did not perform as expected, Mbappe entered a new phase in his career.
The enthusiasm of the fans recalls Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut in 2009, marking the moment Florentino Perez returned as president.
In 2009, in a historic summer (in addition to CR7, there were also Kaka, Karim Benzema, Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso… with 261 million euros in transfer), Ronaldo’s debut ceremony welcomed a record 85,000 spectators.

Mbappe accepted to give up 178 million euros from PSG, including salary, bonuses, bribes and loyalty fees, to join Real Madrid.
This morning, Mbappe just officially signed a 5-year contract with president Florentino Perez in the club office.
“I dreamed many nights of coming here. I am very happy,” Mbappe began during the launch, after president Perez’s presentation.
“This is a proud day. Since I was little I only had one dream, and being here means a lot to me.”
Mbappe addressed the audience: “Thank you Madrid fans for giving me love over the years.
Zidane attended Mbappe’s unveiling ceremony
Now I have another dream, which is to live up to the club’s history. I will dedicate my life to this team and this symbol.”
12 years ago, Zinedine Zidane – in the role of sports consultant – brought Mbappe and his family to visit Valdebebas center.
That day, Real Madrid offered to sign Mbappe for the youth team. However, the family refused because they did not want their son to go abroad too early.
After 12 years, the relationship also came true. The parties reached an agreement immediately after Real Madrid won the Champions League for the 15th time.

Zidane was also present at the event where Mbappe debuted the colors of the greatest football club of the 20th century, as voted by FIFA.
“I have a message for the children,” said Mbappe towards the Bernabeu stands, with many enthusiastic children welcoming him.
Mbappe emphasized: “I was once a child like you. With passion and dreams, you can achieve anything you want.”
