Rumor has it that Rasmus Hojlund, a striker for Manchester United, will be given a new squad number for the upcoming 2024–25 season.

United officially handed the vacant No. 11 shirt to the 21-year-old Danish international after he completed his move from Atalanta last summer for a total of £64 million, including £8 million in add-ons.

The 17 jersey, which he wore when playing for Atalanta, became available when Fred moved for Fenerbahce, but Hojlund claimed 11 as his own when Mason Greenwood went on loan.

Actually, he finished the 2023–24 season with 16 goals in 43 games, making him United’s all-time leading scorer.

Now that he’ll be wearing the same shirt number as Anthony Martial, the Dane will be looking to get off to a good start in the 2024–25 season.

In March, Hojlund was interviewed by the Manchester United fan channel by The United Stand, who claimed that Hojlund will be given the number nine shirt.

After leaving Serie A club Atalanta for £72 million this summer, the Danish forward allegedly agreed to an interview with the publication’s YouTube channel.

In his conversation with channel host and owner Mark Goldbridge, he addressed several issues, including the release clause in his United contract.United have decided to retain Erik ten Hag as manager for the upcoming 2024–25 season, and Hojlund has lately shared his thoughts on the matter.

“Very happy,” he told Florian Plettenberg of Sky News. “He’s a very good coach and I’ve loved working with him this year.”

His goals for the upcoming season have also been inquired about by the striker. “I want to become even better and score even more goals,” said he. “Hopefully we can win another trophy.”
