Chelsea have decided not to bring defender Trevoh Chalobah on their preseason tour of the US, suggesting that he may seek a new club.
It has been reported that Chalobah was advised to remain at home in a shocking snub, even though he participated in Enzo Maresca’s training sessions this summer. As a result, his future is uncertain.
It would imply that the 25-year-old is no longer needed by the newly appointed head coach, after making 13 appearances in the Premier League last season. The Athletic reports that the favorite choices for right-sided central defense include Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and new recruit Tosin Adarabioyo. Meanwhile, rookie right back Josh Acheampong will get an opportunity to show what he can do.
The Blues are reportedly prepared to authorize Fabrizio Romano’s departure after he claimed he was told not to go with the rest of the club.Several clubs have been linked to him recently, including Manchester United, Fulham, West Ham, and Crystal Palace.
Despite several offers to leave Stamford Bridge in the last 18 months, Chalobah has declined each time. Mail Sport states that last summer, both Tottenham’s last-ditch attempt and Nottingham Forest’s £25 million bid were turned down.
Injuries to his hamstring kept him out for most of the previous season, but he battled his way back into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup in the playoffs.
The club’s rollercoaster season came to a close with five straight Premier League victories, and Chalobah was heavily lauded for his part in that run.
Chalobah would probably get a fair price because of the contract that lasts until June 2028.
His three loan stints have taken him to Ipswich, Huddersfield, and Ligue 1 club Lorient, and he is now again eligible for a short-term departure.
Chelsea is intent on selling undesired players to generate cash for additional investment, so a permanent departure seems like the most likely choice. So far, Chalobah has played in 80 matches for the team.
The decision to freeze him out has enraged Blues fans, who have resorted to social media in droves to express their wrath, targeting the club’s administration.
“There is absolutely no logic in selling Trevoh Chalobah,” one X account wrote. “Somehow, even when he talks on the pitch, it isn’t enough.”
‘Just look what it means to score for your boyhood club!’ another person captioned the video of Chalobah’s iconic Premier League debut goal against Crystal Palace. Much greater esteem is due to Trevoh Chalobah.
It may be necessary to remind some clubgoers of this. How could you harm a member of your own family!
