Riccardo Calafiori has sent a message of greeting to Arsenal and the Gunners’ fans after joining the North London club.

At this point, the news of Riccardo Calafiori joining Arsenal has been confirmed. Arsenal and Bologna are just waiting for a few more procedures to officially sign the contract.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano said the Italian midfielder will also soon fly to the US for a medical check-up and to join his new teammates.

Almost immediately, Calafiori showed his excitement by updating his Twitter post. He said: ” Hello Arsenal. Thanks for inviting me on board.”

Calafiori is a rare Italian defender to join Arsenal in the Premier League era. At his new club, the former Bologna player will earn 4 million euros/season and will sign a 5-year contract.

The deal cost Arsenal around €45m. It didn’t take long for the north London club to agree personal terms with Calafiori, but Bologna’s negotiations with Basel over the commission on the deal dragged on for weeks.
