According to many sources, MU are looking to sign Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon after they encountered obstacles in the Manuel Ugarte deal.
Manchester United have agreed personal terms with defensive midfielder Morten Ugarte, but are yet to agree a fee with his club Paris Saint-Germain. The French club are still holding out for €70m, while the Red Devils are determined not to pay that amount.
United need to offload some players before bringing in new faces, especially after spending £52m on Leny Yoro. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano told Give Me Sport:
“Nothing is certain yet, nothing is imminent. United have an agreement with Manuel Ugarte on a contract, and he has the same agent as Leny Yoro. They are still working with Paris Saint-Germain, but nothing is imminent on the deal yet.”
Erik ten Hag’s side are increasingly frustrated and may decide to pursue alternative transfer targets for Ugarte. According to multiple sources, United are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand after they hit a snag in their pursuit of the Uruguayan star.
Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand is attracting interest from MU.
Manchester United scouts are keeping a close eye on the Dane, with the Red Devils now stepping up their interest in the highly-rated 25-year-old, who is believed to have a £67.5m release clause in his current contract with Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
Bruno Fernandes, the Manchester United captain who left Sporting to join the Red Devils, is a big fan of Hjulmand. He once commented on this player: “I like Sporting’s midfield. I like Hidemasa Morita and Morten Hjulmand. They are two important players in Sporting’s style of play.”
