Paris for the Olympics: Chelsea great Didier Drogba
“We will see.” New Chelsea signing acknowledges he is unsure about whether he will be departing on loan this season
This summer ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Chelsea have acquired a number of players.
Among the likes listed above are Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu, and Omari Kellyman. Not yet either is Chelsea’s recruiting done.
As things stand, Chelsea is about to add Filip Jorgensen to their roster to give Robert Sanchez, who seems to be the first choice goalkeeper, competition.
The Blues’ already sizable team has expanded even more with all these fresh recruits, which implies loans and sells probably before the transfer season shuts.
Furthermore, one of Chelsea’s most recent additions does not exclude a temporary relocation even if he just joined the team.Renato Veiga might leave Chelsea on loan.Veiga joined Chelsea from Basel earlier this month, but it looks as though the 20-year-old might be loaned out during current transfer window.
Although Veiga claims he has Enzo Maresca’s trust, the Portuguese cannot rule out a temporary move prior to market closure.Talking about whether Chelsea will loan him out, Veiga told The Athletic and other sites: “We will see at the end of pre-season or when the market shuts [what happens]. From my coworkers and the manager, I sense trust. I simply want to try my best; naturally, this will show.
After Veiga made his Saturday debut for Chelsea, the supporters were quite impressed with him. Still, it was a game to forget when the Blues lost 4-1 to Celtic.
Why Chelsea could decide against lending Renato Veiga? If Veigo stays at Stamford Bridge this summer, he is most likely not going to play every week.
Still, he could be useful to the incoming Chelsea manager. Playing in center defense, midfield, and at left-back, Veiga is a highly flexible football player.
Last season the Blues suffered so many injuries; he would have been the ideal guy to have on hand.
To see what Chelsea does with him will be fascinating indeed. Given his adaptability, one cannot see Maresca being overly disturbed about the former Basel guy staying in West London. From Veiga’s point of view, though, he might wish to play, hence a loan would be most wise.
