Replacing Antony, Man Utd spent more than 100 million euros to recruit Bayern Munich star Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United have agreed a transfer fee with Bayern Munich and are close to completing the signing of defender Noussair Mazraoui.

Mazraoui will reunite with Ten Hag at MU.

The Guardian revealed that MU agreed to pay a transfer fee ranging from 15 to 20 million pounds to Bayern. The specific figure in the contract between the two teams depends on additional terms. However, the “Red Devils” received a nod from Bayern.

Previously, Bayern and West Ham reached an agreement for Mazraoui’s transfer for £15.5 million. At the last minute, Mazraoui refused to go to West Ham to wait for MU and Ten Hag. Coach Erik ten Hag really wanted to reunite with the left-back who used to play for Ajax.

Ten Hag coached the 26-year-old at Ajax from 2018 until the Dutchman moved to Manchester United in 2022. At the same time, Mazraoui also joined Bayern on a free transfer but failed to establish himself as a starter at the German club.

Coach Ten Hag hopes that Mazraoui’s arrival can help MU solve the problem of right-back, when Aaron Wan-Bissaka does not meet the requirements in supporting the attack and controlling the ball. Mazraoui has played impressively when playing with Antony on the right wing for Ajax in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

With Mazraoui about to arrive at Old Trafford, the “Red Devils” want to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to recover capital. The English defender only has 1 year left on his contract with the red half of Manchester.

Along with the Mazraoui deal, MU also negotiated with agent Rafaela Pimenta about Matthijs de Ligt. The big obstacle in the negotiation process to buy the Dutch midfielder for MU is the price.

Sky Sports reported earlier this month that MU offered £29.5 million to buy De Ligt. However, Bayern Munich immediately refused and demanded £42 million excluding additional fees.
