Atletico Madrid under direct negotiations to acquire Conor Gallagher
With negotiations for a price between €35-40 million under progress, Atletico Madrid is closing in on Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. Fabrizio Romano claims that Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are in advanced negotiations on Conor Gallagher’s acquisition. With the midfielder probably having accepted his future move and ready for a new challenge, the Spanish side is scheduled to pay a sum between €35–40 million including add-ons.
Atletico Madrid approaching Conor GallagherGiven Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are in advanced negotiations regarding a move, the Conor Gallagher story might be nearing end. The midfielder might not have wanted to leave Stamford Bridge and even looked for a new deal, but none that came through.
Since last summer, Chelsea has been willing to moving the midfielder since Tottenham was said to be near signing him then. Though considering Chelsea’s posture, Spurs are still interested; the Blues will have sought far more from another Premier League opponent.
More importantly, Chelsea is keen to sell the midfielder since he sees his native status as a great chance to generate riches. Though at that time a move within the Premier League for the player made more sense than a move abroad, Atletico Madrid held meetings for the midfielder.
Atletico was hoping to clinch the deal, and today they are really near to reaching a consensus with Chelsea. As they get ready for the next phases to transfer the England midfielder to Madrid, the Roji Blancos will probably pay a sum ranging from €35 to 40 million including add-ons.
Gallagher would fit Atletico’s approach.Manager Diego Simeone has specific qualities in his players, and Gallagher most definitely adds something distinct to the mix. Gallagher excels in constant running, thus the Atletico manager will be able to deploy the midfielder in a mobile capacity depending on his style and engine.
He would thus be an excellent fit for them and support their development over the next years. Given Gallagher has several more years ahead of Atletico, the sum they pay does reflect good value for money. But the midfielder would have craved to spend all those years as a Chelsea player.
